Itinerary

place DAYS 1 - 3 - Cape Town

Cape Town

Begin your South African adventure in scenic Cape Town with a three-night stay at Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel. On your first dau exploring we recommend taking the cable car ride to the top of colossal Table Mountain, before taking in the historical sites of Cape of Good Hope and the Slave Lodge. Spend the following day in the Cape Peninsula, exploring the surf and skate culture of Muizenberg and meeting the resident seals and fishing folk in Kalk Bay or perhaps have a go at stand up paddle-boarding, and kayaking or take a visit to see the penguins at Boulders Beach.

place DAYS 4 - 6 - Franschhoek

Franschhoek

An easy drive from Cape Town, your next destination is Franschhoek in the Winelands, where you will stay at Le Quartier Francais for three nights. Spend your time exploring this charming village, vineyards and elegant Cape Dutch estates, and of course the finer things in life at some of the world’s most exquisite restaurants with award-winning wine offerings. A highlight during your time here is discovering Franschhoek Valley’s best wine farms by hopping on and off the wine tram.

place DAYS 7 - 8 - Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world. The world’s biggest bird is just one of the many attractions in this area of exceptional contrasts and natural beauty in the Klein Karoo. The region is also home to the spectacular Cango Caves, Africa’s largest show cave system and the Swartberg mountain range, which is part of the Cape Floral World Heritage Site which you will get to explore on a full day tour with lunch included.

place DAYS 9 - 11 - Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay

Depart the rugged beauty of the semi-arid Klein Karoo as you head towards the coast. Take the drive at a leisurley pace enjoying the panroamic viewpoints and glimpes of local life. Today's destination is Plettenberg Bay, known locally as 'Plett' and a favourite spot on many a South African itinerary due to it's sweeping beaches, dramatic coastline and luxurious, yet relaxed atmosphere. Spend three nights at Walkers Beach, a boutique property with direct access to the beach that has been elegantly and thoughtfully designed with earthy palettes and eye-catching contemporary art.

place DAYS 12 - 14 - Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape

With an outstanding offering of game reserves to choose from, the malaria-free Eastern Cape is not only home to the rare mountain zebra, but also indulges travellers with regular sightings of the ‘Big Five’. The extraordinarily diverse Shamwari Private Game Reserve is both stylish and secluded, with five eco-systems encompassed in its proximity. Spot the local wildlife with an early-morning game drive and visit the renowned Rhino Awareness Centre and award-winning Born Free Foundation, before spending a starry evening beside the campfire, reminiscing upon the undeniable magic of South Africa’s wild side.
