Enchanting Japan with APT

Tokyo

Konnichiwa! On arrival in Tokyo, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner with your APT Tour director and fellow travellers, before settling in for a relaxing night ahead of the tour beginning the following day.  

Tokyo

After breakfast, meet your guide and travel to Roppongi to take in sweeping views of Tokyo from the Tokyo City View observation deck at Mori Tower. On a clear day, enjoy outstanding panoramic vistas stretching across the vast capital. Continue to Asakusa, Tokyo’s historic old town and home to the city’s oldest temple, Sensoji. Visit this iconic Buddhist temple before strolling along lively Nakamise Shopping Street. In the afternoon chose from a visit to the Tokyo National Museum, the Japanese Gardens, or Shibuya and Harajuku. 

The following day, visit Meiji Shrine set within a forested park. Afterward, head to Ginza, Tokyo’s famed upscale shopping district and enjoy a sushi making class. 

Tokyo - Hakone

Depart Tokyo for Hakone, on a clear day Mount Fuji can be seen during the journey. Stop at Hakone Shrine, a beautiful example of a Shinto shrine before embarking on a cruise of the picturesque Lake Ashi. The afternoon is centered around enjoying the beautiful scenery and nature of this area and the day is completed with an overnight at a luxury hotel boasting a naturally heated onsen. 

Hakone, Matsumoto, Takayama

This morning try your hand at creating some traditional soba noodles. Later, travel to Matsumoto to visit one of Japan's most complete original castles. After exploring the grounds continue on to Takayama and in the evening enjoy a taste of the region's famous Hida beef.

The morning activity takes you to Miyagawa, one of Japan's largest morning markets with a vast range of independent traders. Enjoy a sarubobo making experience and take a stroll through the stunning streets of the city's old town.   

Takayama - Shirakawa go - Kanazawa

As you travel to Kanazawa today, stop on route at the World Heritage listed village of Shirakawa, gain a deeper insight into the history of this beautiful region before continuing on to Kanazawa, home to the Kenroku-en garden. In the evening chose from two dining experiences, one traditional Japanese the other, an elegant European affair.

Kanazawa - Tsuruga - Kyoto

Start your day in the Higashi Chaya District, Kanazawa’s largest geisha district. Enjoy a special Signature Experience before visiting the traditional Shima teahouse. Following lunch, be transferred to the train station to board a bullet train to Tsuruga, then change to a limited express train to Kyoto. 

Kyoto

Highlights of your stay in Kyoto include a rickshaw ride through the city, visits to some of the renowned temples and shrines of the region, a special tea ceremony experience and and a tour to the nearby town of Nara, a celebration of Japanese history and home to the friendly population of bowing deer. On your final evening enjoy a wonderful night of private entertainment alongside a Geisha or Maiko.
