Climate

Late December to April has great weather, little rain, and lots of sun. From May to September there’s still plenty of sun but also some rain – usually brief showers in the afternoon or at night. October and November are the rainiest months but are often interspersed with sunny days. The cool season is from November to February, when daytime temperatures reach a comfortable 25° C, but nights and early mornings can be cool (10°-15°C). Things heat up from March to June when temperatures won't drop below 25°C (even at night) - and the right time for Songkran, the water festival also called Thai New Year. This is when evening thunderstorms are most common. This is also when the northern haze from planned forest burning occurs, usually starting late February or early March for a few weeks.
