Highlights

Leave the resort and explore the beautiful surroundings or discover some of the main cultural and natural attractions.

Stilt fishermen

Mirissa Beach is a secluded crescent shaped beach where time and cares simply drift away in the breeze. Further along the coast, towards the town of Matara, is the quaint fishing village of Polhena. Not only is this a great area to relax or snorkel, but also to witness Sri Lanka's traditional stilt fishermen gather their days catch.

Explore Galle

Explore Galle

Galle is the country's most perfectly preserved colonial town. Meander down quaint streets of Dutch-style buildings as the smell of exotic spices and salt from the sea lingers in the air and discover boutique shops, cafés and architectural surprises. Built by the Portuguese in 1588 and then extensively fortified by the Dutch, Galle Fort is recognised by UNESCO for its cultural heritage value and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 - a 'must see' while in the south.

Diverse wildlife

Sri Lanka's most famous wild life park, Yala National Park, brings guests up close and personal with a variety of wildlife and is the ideal place to spot the 'big four' of Sri Lankan wildlife - the elephant, the sloth bear, the wild buffalo and the elusive leopard. Nature lovers should also visit Sinharaja Forest Reserve in the south west. Noted as a World Heritage Site in 1988, the reserve is home to endemic wildlife, mammals, butterflies and trees.
