Day 1 – 3
Your journey will begin in Athens with a two night pre cruise stay at King George A Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens. This ancient city is famous for its rich culture, ancient ruins, and beautiful beaches. Spend your days exploring this fascinating city with an abundance of attractions to see including the Acropolis Museum, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Acropolis of Athens, a citadel situated on a rocky outcrop containing ruins of several ancient buildings. On day three transfer to the port to begin your seven night luxury cruise onboard the Celebrity Ascent℠.
Day 4
Today is your first day at sea onboard the Celebrity Ascent℠. While at sea, take some time to recharge before your next port of call. Lounge by the pool, visit the spa, treat your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants or enjoy some entertainment.
Day 5
The first stop is Santorini, Greece. Santorini is stunningly scenic and breathlessly romantic with its azure domes and whitewash buildings which cascade down the island’s slopes. Head to the east side of the island to explore the stunning volcanic-sand beaches which vary in hues from charcoal-black to flame-red. The island’s volcanic past has also produced mouthwatering grapes for excellent wines which are a must taste during your time in Santorini. Finish your day watching a magical Santorini sunset with endless expanse of blue waves filling the massive volcanic caldera of the island.
Day 6
Next your cruise will dock at Ephesus, Turkey. Ephesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ruins so spectacular that even those familiar with the world’s other ancient cities will be impressed. Wander through this ancient city and marvel at the famous Library of Celsus, the massive amphitheatre, the beautiful mosaic sidewalks and the stunning Terrace Houses. Also guests should be sure to explore the three monumental cities of antiquity, Priene, Miletus and Didyma, which are known for their magnificent temples and incredibly preserved stadiums.
Day 7
Today your cruise will dock in Mykonos, Greece. The allure of the Cycladic island of Mykonos is well established, with its glamorous nightlife, tantalizing gastronomy, spectacular beaches and picturesque villages. Spend your day wandering through the narrow, winding streets of this enchanting seaside village with its whitewashed houses, and brightly painted shutters and doors. Head to Little Venice for a waterfront view of one of the island’s famous sunsets while enjoying an apertif of the famous Greek liqueur, ouzo.
Day 8
The next day is another day at sea onboard the Celebrity Ascent℠. While at sea, take some time to recharge before your next port of call. Lounge by the pool, visit the spa, treat your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants or enjoy some entertainment.
Day 9
The next stop is Naples, Italy’s third largest city. With the looming Mount Vesuvius as its backdrop, this 2,800 year old port city is full of historical sites, churches, beautiful piazzas and is rich in centuries-old culture and customs. Explore this city’s historic centre which has been deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to important archaeological sites and landmarks. Naples is the region where the pizza was first made, which makes indulging in one something you simply cannot miss on your trip. Also history lovers should be sure to visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale to see a world-class collection of Egyptian and Graeco-Roman artifacts.
Day 10 – 12
Your cruise will end in Rome where you will then transfer to Baglioni Hotel Regina for a 2 night post-cruise stay. This elegant luxurious hotel is located close to the heart of the city, providing the perfect base to explore all the tourist attractions. Be sure to visit the Vatican, with its Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, and the ancient ruins of the Colosseum. A trip to Rome is not complete without an obligatory coin toss into the famous Trevi Fountain.
