Read on for more information about the many places to visit on a trip to this Sunshine State.

Brisbane

Of course, those wanting to experience the city life of Queensland must visit the thriving capital city of Brisbane. This urban metropolis with a laid-back charm is a thriving hub for arts, culture and dining. Indeed, the Brisbane River is a distinctive feature of the city, winding its way around the city and its neighbourhoods. It provides picturesque waterside walking and cycle paths as well as the perfect space for watersports such as kayaking and boating. Some of the city’s best parks and green spaces also line the river including South Bank Parklands and the City Botanic Gardens.

Indeed, there are countless things to do during a visit to Brisbane, with options to suit every interest. Shopping lovers can wander down Queen Street Mall, a pedestrian-only precinct home to both leading department stores and independent retailers, or stroll along James Street, an elegant tree-lined shopping street most popular for its local boutiques. Culture enthusiasts can discover unique exhibitions from renowned local and international talent at Queensland Art Gallery and Australia’s largest Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). Alternatively, learn about the secrets of Brisbane’s heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour. Not to be missed is a visit to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary home to more than 100 koalas and 75 species of other Australian native animals. Those looking for some adventure should not miss the opportunity to climb the Story Bridge, one of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks. Those brave enough to accept the challenge will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view of the city and its surroundings as well as listening to fascinating commentary about the history and heritage of the bridge and city during the climb. No matter how you spend your time, a visit to this River City will not disappoint.

Home to 62 miles of beautiful coastline, lush hinterland hills, sacred Aboriginal sites, and charming historic villages, the Sunshine Coast offers plenty of experiences and activities to enjoy. The coastal town of Noosa is the perfect place for a relaxing and serene retreat. This idyllic paradise is a place where a morning stroll will be greeted with sightings of dolphins, koalas and sea turtles. Days here can be spent unwinding with a beachside yoga class, shopping in stylish boutiques, or riding the waves at Noosa World Surfing Reserve which is ranked among the top surfing zones in Australia and is suitable for all abilities. Another destination well worth the visit in the Sunshine Coast to disconnect with your busy life and rediscover nature is the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Lush rainforest-clad hills make way for secluded beaches that then make way for turquoise waters which hold beneath them some of the world’s most cherished reef ecosystems. The best thing about The Whitsundays is that it is a place of such overwhelming beauty that can be explored in a multitude of ways, from hiking through rainforests that reveal endangered or unique species of wildlife to helicopters rides giving you a bird eye view of places like Hill Inlet, Airlie Beach and Heart Reef.
