Boston

Start your journey in Boston retracing the steps of the Freedom Trail through Boston Common, King’s Chapel and the pubs and taverns where America’s Founding Fathers toasted freedom. Explore Quincy Market’s boutique shops and cafes before heading over the Charles River to nearby Cambridge for a visit to the iconic Harvard University.

Sample some of New England’s speciality dishes from delicious lobster rolls to creamy clam chowder at the vibrant Boston Public Market and learn all about the history of America’s favourite pastime, baseball, during a tour of the historic Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox.

New York City

Board your Amtrak train and travel south across the Atlantic coast, passing by the picturesque towns and villages of New England, before arriving in the Big Apple! Immerse yourself in bustling Times Square, experience the greenery and openness of Central Park before slipping into the Metropolitan Museum of Art to soak up some culture.

Tick must-see sights of your list taking in the views from the Top of the Rock and Empire State Buildings, and then head downtown for a reflective visit to Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. Hop on the ferry to Liberty Island and take the perfect picture with the Statue of Liberty, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge or shop until you drop at the world-famous Macy’s, Bloomingdales or Barneys department stores.

Embark the train from Penn Station and head to Philadelphia to discover a city that has undergone a renaissance in recent years. Often referred to as the ‘Birthplace of America’, Philadelphia is filled with historic landmarks from the Liberty Bell to Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution.

The city is also a haven for foodies, visit Reading Terminal Market for tasty treats sold by Amish farmers and artisans or enjoy fine dining at the stylish restaurants in Rittenhouse Square. Enjoy panoramic views of the city from One Liberty Observation Deck, take a cruise on the river or climb the 72 ‘Rocky’ steps up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Journey onwards to the nation’s capital Washington, D.C. where celebrated monuments stand proud and fascinating museums delve into the history of the USA. Spend a quiet morning wandering the National Mall admiring the iconic monuments, statues and memorials including the famous Lincoln Memorial, the giant obelisk of the Washington Monument and the US Capital Building.

Make time for the array of museums, with favourites including the Smithsonian Institution offerings and the Newseum, an interactive museum tracing the evolution of communication and free expression.
