Iconic self-drive stretching from Mossel Bay in the west to Storms River in the east
Tucked away at the southern tip of the continent and bursting with lush vegetation and diverse fauna and flora, it is easy to see where the Garden Route gets it name from. It would certainly be easy to view it almost as a tranquil back garden to the wild and wonderful continent that comes before it, but this would be doing the Garden Route a real disservice.

The Garden Route is culturally, historically and geographically diverse and certainly one of the best ways to see South Africa.
Plettenberg Bay is the grand finale of our Garden Route journey, boasting a choice of beaches - from shallow lagoon areas for tiny-feet paddlers, to scooping hotspots for surfers and body-boarders. Plettenberg Bay is also a wonderful location from which to watch these marvellous sea creatures perform their graceful ocean acrobatics in their natural habitats from Whales to Dolphins.
The Garden Route is rich in biodiversity but that’s not where the diversity ends. Mossel Bay offers rich history and Blue Flag beaches wrapped up in a quaint harbour village feel while George is the chance to wander around one of South Africa’s oldest towns and Oudtshoorn is a village famed for having the largest Ostrich farms in the world.
A 300-kilometre route which stretches from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape along to Stormsriver in the Eastern Cape, a trip along the Garden Route will take you on a dramatic journey from verdant hillsides that bleed into desert landscapes all whilst stopping off at a number of fantastic towns along the way.
